Our passion is building high performance energy efficient homes when our clients are so inclined. This means building above the ENERGY STAR requirements and certifying the home to one of the nationally recognized green building programs.
Mission
First and foremost we want to grow an enthusiastically satisfied client base on which to sustain and grow our business. Secondly, we want to enhance our reputation of being the leading Green Builder on the Outer Banks of North Carolina by continuing to build energy efficient homes, certifying as many of those homes as possible to nationally recognized green building programs and by investigating and incorporating new building technologies and building science into our homes.
Strategy
To have clients who are enthusiastic about their homes and the building process, it is important to be good communicators and listeners. We have to meet and exceed our clients expectations to get enthusiastic endorsements! Open lines of communication are needed during the planning and construction phases. As your builder, I am available at all times by cell phone, email and on-site meetings to whatever degree makes you feel comfortable with the planning/building process and to ensure your satisfaction with the end result.
We use only the best materials and the most advanced building science to construct your home. Details are critically important to building the home our clients expect in terms of design and craftsmanship andin assuring that our building envelopes are as energy efficient and durable as possible. As your builder, I personally supervise the construction of all of our homes.
To be a leader in the Green Building area we have taken the courses and received the designations that assure you that we have done our homework on how to build green. I hold the NAHB Certified Green Professional accreditation and I co-chair the Green Building Council at the Outer Banks Home Builders Association. HADDON HOMES built the first two homes on the Outer Banks to be certified by a national green building program (NAHB’s NATIONAL GREEN BUILDING STANDARD). This program is inspected and tested by third party Verifiers certified by NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) and by ENERGY STAR certified HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Raters.
Building Philosophy
Because housing accounts for more than one-fifth of all the energy used in the United States, we build energy efficient homes. This is a moral commitment to reduce our energy bite from the Earth as much as possible. Therefore, every home we build is certified at a minimum to the ENERGY STAR standard. As energy costs continue to rise, this emphasis on energy efficiency will become increasingly important to your pocketbook and will add value to your home.
Our passion is building high performance energy efficient homes when our clients are so inclined. This means building above the ENERGY STAR requirements and certifying the home to one of the nationally recognized green building programs. We have recently completed (June 2010) the first two homes on the Outer Banks certified to the NAHB GREEN BUILDING STANDARD, the only ANSI (American National Standards Institute) certified green building program in the country for new residential construction.
While we have spent a lot of time, energy and research in developing our building methods and selection of materials, we are flexible and open minded, willing to learn and consider new materials and building technologies as they present themselves. We are avid readers of the trade journals and attend regional and national trade shows to keep up with the latest developments in building materials and technology.
We enjoy working with clients who are looking for a more personalized home building experience. Many of our clients have become friends and we still keep in touch years after building their home.
